Hi Tara, are you excited about doing Improv Ice, tommorrow? Ican't wait to see you in that :-) I thought you did great at Rockefeller Center. What was it like skating in that wind and rain? Pretty yucky I bet.
Yes, I am very excited about Improv. It's something new to me...I've never done this before. You pick your own music and have only an hour to prepare. It was pretty exciting to be there with the tree...it was pretty magical . It was pretty yucky out there with the wind and rain and what not...but I guess you just have to skate in all conditions.

What do you like to do for fun non-skating related?
Relax and be home with my family and friends. Do normal stuff like go to the movies and go to the mall.

What's the last movie you saw?
The last movie I saw was...Unbreakable...and it was pretty good!

Do you have any hints for someone going skating their very first time?
Practice..practice...practice.. Other than that..just have fun. Do things slowly until you get the hang of it.

How can we send you fan mail?
Yes, they can. Either they email me at my website...or through a couple of different addressses and it gets to me.

Who is your idol in the skating world? someone you look up to?
I'd have to say Kurt Browning. He's such a great performer, jumper, and person.

Tara, when you were younger, what was the most difficult triple jump for you to master?
When I was real young, it was the double loop.

Hi, Tara. I've been going to the SOI show in Rhode Island for the past few years, and I just wanted to tell you that you're awesome and ask you what is your favorite city to tour in?
I like all of the places...we're in and out so quick. I kinda like the warmer places though....we get a few days off and it's nice out in the sun!

You can see Tara, Victor Petrenko and other Olympic and World Champions tomorrow night in Improv-ice at the First Union Center.

Keep those questions coming!

What do you think is the prime age for children to start ice skating?
I think any age...it really doesn't matter. I started when I was younger..but many champions started in later years.

At Improv-ice, are you secretly hoping to randomly pick a certain type of music or will you not really care what you pick. I remember Kurt drawing a "serious" piece of music and then turning it into a comedy piece... it was great. What are your thoughts on this?
I hope I pick some pop rock fun piece to get the audience going...but you never know! Like I said...he's an idol of mine. I've skated with him before and done numbers with him and we've had so much fun....so I know that he comes up with great stuff.

If you weren't skating what do you think you would be doing?
Something where I keep active...I don't know....some sport.

What is the one thing that you can't travel without?
A lot of suitcases...for all of my clothes!

What is your favorite costume ever?
I've had some of the best. I have a new one this year for "Tiny Dancer"....it's really cool...it's like a 70's outfit. I just think it will be exciting. I'm looking forward to doing the group numbers. That's part of the reason that I love doing "Stars on Ice". So it should be fun!

What is your Favorite song to skate to?
My favorite song....I don't know....every year I like what I do, but I'm excited about what I'm doing this year....I'm doing "Dance With Me" by DeBella Morgan.

Tara what age did you start skating?
I started roller skating at 3 and ice skating at 6.

Hi Tara, I just rushed home so i could get on to chat with you, I can't wait to see you on TV tommorrow night, I have never been to a skating show before, wanted to come see you tommorrow, but it didn't work out. Hopefully i will get another chance. I don't really have a question just wanted to talk to you. Your AWESOME!!
Cool!

What is the CD that you can't stop listening to?
I like this new girl named Tina...I like her cd.

What age did you win your first event?
I can't remember exactly. I started pretty young and I think it was probably when I was 6 or 7 at maybe the Mid-Atlantics.

Tara, do you still collect frogs, I do.
I used to..not so much anymore because I have so many.

How was it interviewing at the Profesional Team Challange?
It was fun..I mean it was disappointing because I couldn't skate because of my hip surgery. It's nice to be back on the ice!

You collect bears now, right?
No, I don't do bears...I don't know what I really collect right now.

Do you have any acting jobs lined up?
Yes, after tour...I plan to go out to LA and start working out there this summer.

Do you watch any sports?
I like to watch hockey. My favorite team is the Red Wings.

Is there much pressure skating in a big show like this or is it mostly fun?
It's mostly fun because it 's a show for the audience.

Who would you love to act with?
Anybody, it really doesn't matter. I don't really have one person. I really just want a good role that I can have fun with.

How did it feel when you won the gold?
It felt indescribable. It's a feeling that you wait your whole life for...and then when it happens you don't know what to do.

You have met a lot of famous people, who was your favorite?
I don't know.. I met a lot of people and they've all been really nice, but I did meet Robin Williams and he was pretty cool.

What goals would you still like to accomplish?
There's a lot . I love touring with "Stars on Ice" and right now I'm just trying to get back from surgery.

Tara, Any plans on going onto any other shows like Rosie and Letterman again? Those are always fun to watch!
Maybe, yah,...I don't know exactly what's lined up...but hopefully something.

Tara how is your hip?
It still hurts me a lot.. I wasn't sure I'd be able to do Improv-Ice. I'm trying to just get one jump down in the beginning and hopefully not get too sore.

Do you ever watch ametuer skating? If so, who is your favorite to watch?
I don't watch skating that much...Usually when I'm home I give myself a break from skating.

What do you usually watch on TV?
I like Friends and Once and Again.

Do you ever watch old skating tapes of yourself, or even newer ones?
Not really...it's kinda weird to watch that!

What is your favorite band?
I don't really have a favorite...I just kinda like all types of music.

Tara how dose it feel being a pro skater?
I like it...it's different and you have to learn alot to be a pro skater. It's exciting and you get to meet a lot of people and make friends.

Do you have any college plans?
Yes, I do. I graduated last year, which was really exciting. I want to make sure that if I do it that I do it right. I may start taking classes in the summer or something. I don't want to take like a correspondence class or anything.

What is it like being in the spotlight?
It's fun..I like it and you get used to it. You really enjoy it.

What was it like voting in your first election?
It was pretty cool...I was excited about it!

What do you think your fans can see at Improv Ice
Something exciting. It's gonna be like on the spot...you have to make something up. Everybody has to make something up.

How does it feel to be back in PA?
I love it. I was born here and I live kinda close and I still kinda feel like it's my hometown.

Tara has to go to another appearance but would like to thank everyone for joining today's chat. You can see Tara, Victor Petrenko, Phillippe Candeloro, Oksana Baiul and more at Improv-ice tomorrow night at 8:00 at the First Union Center. Patti LaBelle will sing live for one of the skaters' routines. If you can't make it to the show, tune in to USA Network and see it live!
