Mojo: All right, here we go. It's Channel 955. Boy I tell ya what, it's like Olympic week on the show. It's like the Olympic week here with Mojo In The Morning with all the Olympians here we are talking to. Tara Lipinski, who did her training right here in the motor city for her Olympic skating is on with us right now. Hey Tara.

Tara: Good morning.

Mojo: How are ya?

Tara: I'm doing good.

Mojo: Now.... Well welcome back to Detriot I guess, right?

Tara: Yea, I know (laughs)

Mojo: You spend many a times.... How long were you... did you spend here in town?

Tara: I lived there for almost four years training.

Mojo: And you were training at the Detroit uh, Skating Club.

Tara: Skating Club down in Bloomfields, yea.

Mojo: And where did you live while you were doing that?

Tara: In Bloomfield Hills. Right off Long Lake.

Sara: Did you have any time... I know you had to train so so hard but did you ever have any time to go and hang out in some hot spots that we would know of?

Tara: Ummm... Well definetly Summer Set.

Sara: Ohhhhh

Mojo: (laughs)

Tara: (laughs)

Mojo: Yea, I guess that....

Tara: But I always liked Birmingham. I don't know. I was all over.

Mojo: I guess at your age the hot spots are pretty limited. (laughs)

Tara: Yea (laughs)

Sara: Till' you turn 21.

Mojo: The cool thing though was you're haning out with Todd Eldredge at the same time, right?

Tara: Yea and he still lives there.

Mojo: And so you're doing a lot of training. It's funny, you know, because people don't realize this in Detroit and you start seeing people like yourself and Anna Kournikova we know has got the ties here, but you start seeing all these famous people walking around town and Detroit is kind of.. I guess we've got out little Hollywood.

Spike: Why is it such a premier place for skaters to come and train?

Tara: 'Cause the just... I... you know, when I went there they had three rinks set up there and it's just a great training center.

Mojo: Well I know you're still skating, right? You're doing the professional stuff. The touring around...

Tara: Yea....

Mojo: with all the other skaters?

Tara: ...touring around.

Spike: Do you miss the competition aspect or are you glad you don't have to compete anymore?

Tara: No. For me my decision to turn pro was for so many reasons. I just mentally knew I couldn't be at the next Olympics. I had hip surgery, and things like that kind of let into that. And also I felt like I accomplished everything I wanted to.

Mojo: And Tara, I gotta ask you a question. We have Tara Lipinski on the line with us right now. America's Sweetheart. I mean, here you are. Everybody loves you. You're like a poster child. You're such a pretty girl and you're also so very talented. How is that, growing up with the spotlight on you the whole time? Was it tough?

Tara: Not so much because it slowly happened to me as I was skating and even in the amateur ranks. Being in front of television camera's and things like that. I guess I had great family support and good friends to kind of keep me grounded.

Mojo: Were you able to date at all? Were you able to have a...

Tara: Yea. My mom would like let me do... we have a really good relationship so she trusts me and she wanted me to skate but she also wanted me to have a social life so....

Mojo: Now...

Tara: If my friends wanted to come over and I wanted to do things she'd let me do that. So I would still enjoy skating.

Mojo: Did you... did you have.... I know being in Detroit you're between what ages those four years?

Tara: Like thirteen and fifteen.

Mojo: Ok, so that usually the time when girls get their very first boyfriend. Were you able to have a boyfriend at that time?

Tara: Not a serious one. I think I probably had one or two. (laughs)

Mojo: Any people here in Detroit that you havn't seen in a long time? (laughs)

Tara: (laughs) I have a lot of friends at the rink still.

Mojo: Do you really?

Tara: Yea.

Mojo: I just would think it would be so wierd though because everyone's got the spotlight on you and you can't really go anywhere without people knowing who you are because you're on television.

Tara: But you get used to it. It just becomes part of your life and your fans are kind of... you realize as I'm touring around that they're what make the show and what pretty much makes your career so I'm pretty grateful for them.

Sara: Did you ever have any scary fans?

Tara: (laughs) No, not really.

Spike: Not any that you want to talk about right now....

Tara: (laughs)

Spike: .. .because they're probably still hanging out here somewhere in Detroit.

Tara: (laughs)

Sara: Tara.............

Mojo: It would be funny though to be on tour, or meet one of these younger, newer skaters like Sarah Hughes and think of yourself as an old timer you know? (laughs)

Tara: (laughs) I dont think I'm too old though.

Mojo: What do you think of Sarah Hughes? Were you rooting for her or where you hoping Michelle Kwan was going to win the last Olympics?

Tara: Well, I knew it would be unpredictable just because the pressure is so extreme and especially at the Olympics when it's down to those four minutes and it can change your life. So I think Sarah was sitting in fourth place thinking that 'I'll never have a chance to win' and then everyone else made a mistake and she just went out and skated awesome.

Mojo: Now Tara Lipinski there's a big Red Wings hockey game tonight.

Tara: Oh, now see? I love the Red Wings.

Mojo: When you were hanging out at the skating club did you get to bump into any guys at all?

Tara: Every once and a while.

Mojo: Yea?

Tara: It's pretty cool.

Mojo: Now uh, could you give them some insperation right now for when they hear cute little Tara Lipinski on the phone?

Sara: (laughs)

Tara: I dont think they want my insperation. (laughing through whole sentence)

Spike: Ok could you get us tickets?

Everyone: (laughs)

Tara: I dont talk to them

Everyone (laughs)

Mojo: Could you help us out? Could you call some of your friends like Stevie Whi and get us some more tickets, please?

Everyone: (laughs)

Tara: (laughs) Ok.

Mojo: Tara, you're awesome. We really appreciate you being on with us and it's good to check back in with ya and see how things are going.

Tara: Yea

Mojo: Come back...

Tara: Say Hi to Detroit for me!

Mojo: Ok. Come back and live here, ok?

Tara: (giggles) Ok.

Mojo: We'll keep Spike from stalking ya.

Everyone: (laughs)

Sara: And we'll go to Summer Set.

Tara: Alright. Yeaaaa....

Mojo: Alright. And thank you so much for being on.
